SX prep
In the heart of supercross season I’ve recently come across something I think anyone just starting to ride SX/AX style tracks for the first time will benefit from.
-
I’ve been traveling to this new facility in NC (Ball Creek) to do training with riders, and they just built an AX/SX track and i was watching a few guys starting out riding sx/ax for the first time, a common mistake i see, is everyone wants to go straight for speed right away myself included when first starting SX.

Break up the sections you struggle with and work them at a pace slow enough just to complete the section. Your goal should be to get to where you can complete laps without holding your breath.
-
SX can be sketchy until you learn how your bike handles on it, and I think that’s the thing that will click for you to get it. You have to get a feel for how your bike handles in whoops and how to properly unweight the bike in rhythm sections, and I think this is mostly an experience thing that will just take time, so start slow.

It’s mostly confidence as well, aim to leave safe, just go to the track to learn for now. Once you can do 5-10 laps smooth without getting really out of breath, then you can start to dial your speed in

What do you guys think? I’ve had success implanting these methods in my classes, doing this in SX let me know if it works for you
